Sales from first Idol single to benefit children in need

Eye on Idol

Music lovers can help the Idols help kids in need and sing along to the year's first Canadian Idol recording while they're doing it.

Released on Tuesday, July 24, "Believe in You" is a track written by Amanda Marshall and performed by the Canadian Idols. The song will premiere on the Top 9 results show with a live performance, and is available for purchase through Telus, iTunes and Puretracks.

Dedicated to families across the country, "Believe in You" will become the anthem for this summer's "Help the Idols Build a House" fundraising campaign, with 100 per cent of the net proceeds of its sales donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

In partnership with Canadian Idol and Sony BMG Music (Canada), the record label releasing the single, RMHC is working to build the first North American Ronald McDonald Family Retreat at Bear Mountain Resort in Victoria, BC.

Canada's 12 existing Ronald McDonald Houses provide a home-away-from-home for out-of-town families of children undergoing treatment at nearby hospitals for serious illness or injury.

Such families will be eligible to visit the Bear Mountain retreat for an opportunity to spend time together, free of charge, in a setting where they can focus on each other and begin to get their lives back on track.

You can download "Believe In You" now at  iTunes  or Puretracks .  Telus subscribers can download directly from their cell phones.

Why are the Idols helping? This season, CTV and the cast of Canadian Idol are teaming up with McDonalds Canada to raise funds to help keep families together in times of illness.
