Throughout the 2008 election campaign, The Strategic Counsel tracked 45 of the closest races for CTV and The Globe and Mail The Battleground 2008 polling tracked 45 of the most hotly contested ridings in Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia.

Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia were chosen because they possess the highest concentration of ridings where multiple parties are likely to have the toughest competition.

The chart below tracks the changes. The first columns represent results from the federal election of 2006 and subsequent byelections, and the second set of numbers represents the changes on election night 2008.
