SMS FAQWhat is an SMS text message?An SMS text message or 'text,' is a fast means to send and receive information using your mobile phone. Text messages can contain up to 160 characters depending on your mobile network. You can use text messaging to opt into to contests and mobile services by texting in keywords and game commands. What is a Short Code phone number?Text message services run on a special phone number called a short code. This is a short phone number such as 288288. What do I need to text message?Mostly all mobile phones can text message. However you must have a credited mobile phone and an SMS text message plan set up with your mobile network provider. What do I type and send for CTV election updates?The SMS short code for CTV election information is CTVCTV, or 288288. To sign up for alerts type ALERT and for trivia type TRIVIA. You can also sign up online. To answer CTV daily trivia questions reply to the question message you receive by typing CTV followed by your A, B, or C answer choice. (Eg. To select 'A' text 'CTV A' to 288288.) Is there a charge for this service?You will not be charged for receiving message. Rates for sending text messages depend on your mobile network provider. Can I opt out of the service?Yes. Simply send a text message 'CTV STOP' and you will be unsubscribed from all services.
