Campbell, Heathcliff DionysusBritish Columbia, Vancouver Centre, Marijuana Party Hello Fellow Canadians! Although I am originally Ontario-born, I have been a proud Vancouver Centre resident now since the mid-1980’s. I am a member of both the Federal and British Columbia Marijuana Parties; a member of the British Columbia Compassion Club; lifelong cannabis activist; former Agriculture Canada Grain Inspector; ex-military; former postal worker and UBC Grad. I have now and have always had a deep love of Canada, a profound sense of duty and a strong desire to help Canada achieve its’ full potential. I promise to listen, to learn and to ALWAYS strive for the highest! While out talking with Vancouver Centre residents, I am often asked, "What ELSE does the FMP stand for besides cannabis legalization?" Oficially, the party has only one issue: the complete legalization of the cannabis plant. For other issues, individual candidates’ beliefs vary. For myself, I share my co-candidates’ desire for a vital, universal, national health care system, with vastly reduced surgical wait times; to greatly increase funding to our north; to immediately reopen closed community health clinics and to see more services and prescriptions covered by basic care plans. This includes, I feel, the right of the patient to direct their own care in terms of alternate choices. We deserve the right to access safe, legal, clean, consistently high-quality herbal alternatives to pharmaceutical pills. Like my fellow candidates, I am concerned with preserving our greenspaces, natural wetlands, oceans, old growth forests and many resources. I wish to adopt initiatives that encourage and reward industries that adopt eco-friendly programs while likewise punishing polluters for non-compliance. Not only wild animals deserve our attention. New laws MUST be enacted immediately to address inhumane treatment, including neglect, of our domesticated animal friends. They’ve suffered in silence for too long! Another issue important to many who have spoken with me is safe, affordable housing - or the lack thereof!! It is a mark of shame to Canadians and Vancouverites alike to have so many of our children, our parents, our FAMILY sleeping rough; living on the streets because of lack of decent housing!! Last but not least, I share my co-candidates’ deep pride in being Canadian and their desire to help maintain Canada’s excellent standing in the global village. Thank-you. VISION STATEMENT: I have a deep love of Canada, a profound sense of duty coupled with a strong desire to help Canada achieve its’ true potential and a lasting commitment to Canadians everywhere to realize these shared values. My short-term goals include using your suport to establish a permanent outlet for purchasing top medicinal grade cannabis as quickly as possible; initially in Vancouver Centre, but ultimately Canada-wide. Economy: To seek further tax cuts, increase debt repayment and move ever towards a green economy by rewarding sustainable, bio-friendly employers. Health Care: Top priority to all Canadians is to ensure a vital universal, national system with reduced wait times for surgery, more funding to the north, reopening closed facilities and more prescriptions and services covered by basic care plans. Environment: To preserve our greenspaces, wetlands and natural resources; clean up exisitng pollution, find better solutions and institute a system combining incentives to reward companies with fines for non-compliance. Cities and Communities: Encourage cities’ economic growth, revitalize and attract jobs while preserving greenspace, parks and recreation facilities for all ages. Assuring safer streets and efficient, low-cost public transit systems. Families: To promote initiatives which protect and reflect the needs of all ages. To establish family, which continues to be the bedrock of Canadian society, as a self-defined unit under law. Canada’s Role In The World: Continue to promote Canada’s excellent reputation as peace-keeper, water and cold weather specialists.
