Kamp, Randy

British Columbia, Pitt Meadows - Maple Ridge - Mission, Conservative Party of Canada

Randy Kamp grew up in Maple Ridge, B.C. and graduated from Maple Ridge High in 1971. He went on to complete a Bachelor's degree in theology and do extensive graduate studies in linguistics. From 1985 to 1992, he and his family lived in the Philippines where Randy was regional director for an organization doing linguistic work among minority language groups. Randy has also worked as a department store manager and administrative pastor and has served on the board of directors for a number of non-profit groups. He has also volunteered for a number of local community organizations. The common thread through Randy's life is his commitment to serving people.

In 1997, Randy was hired as the executive assistant to Grant McNally, who served Dewdney-Alouette as the Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2004. In that role, Randy got a first hand view of the everyday problems facing people in Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Mission and when McNally retired, he was inspired to run for Parliament to make Canada an even better place in which to live and to make government more responsive and relevant to the people living in our communities.

On June 28th, 2004, Randy was elected as the Member of Parliament for Pitt Meadows - Maple Ridge - Mission. Since that time, he has enjoyed meeting with many constituents personally and responding to thousands of e-mails, letters, and phone calls. He has been constantly seeking feedback from you through his many surveys, brochures and public meetings. In Ottawa, Randy has been outspoken on a number of important issues. Soon after his election, Randy was quickly promoted to the position of Official Opposition Critic for Fisheries and Oceans on the Pacific Coast. In that role, he has been holding the Department of Fisheries and Oceans responsible for their actions, specifically for their mismanagement of the Fraser River sockeye fishery. He has also been elected Chair of the Conservative Crystal Meth Task Force, and he has been leading in the fight against crystal meth, an insidious drug that is invading our communities at an alarming rate.

Randy has been married to his wife Ruth for over thirty years. They have three adult children, two grandchildren and a basset hound named Bentley.
