Kate has lived in the Edmonton area for the past 38 years and in Edmonton-Millwoods-Beaumont for the past 15. Married to David, she is the mother to two children and is a garden designer and consultant, specializing in ecologically friendly designs.

Previously, she has worked as a journalist, independent film producer and in conference planning and administration for various firms and associations. She has been an active advocate in the community living movement for those with special needs and in her children’s school communities. Her main interests include her family, gardening, reading and writing.

Kate believes “we must become the change we want to see” in the world and so felt she needed to be a candidate in this election. She thinks many of us understand that rampant consumerism and its reliance on unsustainable resources cannot continue without desperate consequences for future generations but are unsure what to do about it as the current political system has not shown leadership in this area. She believes the Green Party offers a fresh way of doing government that is respectful to all the constituents of the earth.

Kate believes the time has come for voters to choose between what is right and what is easy.
