Former Calgary Board of Education chairwoman Jennifer Pollock is the Liberal candidate for Calgary West.

A lawyer by profession, Ms. Pollock was elected to the school board to represent Northwest Calgary for three terms in the 1990s. The board educates 100,000 students in over 230 public schools.

As an active volunteer, Ms. Pollock has a long history of being responsive to concerns and knowledgeable of needs in the community. She developed school programs for the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, and has sat on school councils, the Calgary Parks and Recreation Board and the Alberta School Boards Association.

In the past, she has taught in Africa with the Canadian development organization, CUSO, officiated at the 1988 Olympics and organized a Reading Roundup for children at the Calgary Stampede.

Calgary West is where Ms. Pollock has raised 4 children with her lawyer husband Dennis Nerland for over 25 years.
