Ken Cooper is a long time resident of St. Vital. He attended the University of Manitoba, receiving his degree in Civil Engineering. Later, Ken returned to university and graduated with an MBA from the Ivey School of Business.

He has a background as a lender and investor with several corporations and financial institutions in both Canada and the United States. Most recently, as chief executive of the Winnipeg Stock Exchange, he worked with business owners, securities dealers and government to facilitate access to public capital markets for new and emerging businesses.

Currently, Ken is managing director of the Winnipeg Angel Organization, a non-profit network dedicated to connecting private sector investment with new ideas developed by local entrepreneurs and small business owners. He serves on the Securities Advisory Committee for the Manitoba Securities Commission, is a director of McLeod Harvest, a research and development company developing a new harvest system, and serves as a director of the Medical Arts Building.

Ken has extensive community interests and experience. These interests currently include The Winnipeg Art Gallery as a Governor and member of the Executive, Works of Art and Development Committees; The Winnipeg Art Gallery Foundation as president; the Glenlawn Collegiate Scholarship Foundation as chair; and as a director and Treasurer of Hoops Downtown, an inner city youth leadership development program.

Ken has been active politically and has worked in many provincial and federal campaigns. He was a member of the PC Manitoba Fund board for over seven years and served as vice chair of crown corporation, the Manitoba Lotteries Corporation for ten years. And, he was the Conservative candidate in Saint Boniface in the 2004 federal election.

Ken and his wife Lynn have three sone, Grant, Neal, and Ross.
