Longtime Liberal activist Tanya Parks is proud to be the Liberal Party’s candidate for Elmwood-Transcona.

Born in Winnipeg, Ms. Parks is the owner of the unique retail and import store known as Distant Caravans Eastern Imports at the Forks Market.

Tanya has been an active volunteer in various charities over the years and has been instrumental in her fundraising efforts on behalf of many Winnipeg and Manitoba charities. She is a strong advocate for human rights issues and has worked to create opportunities for minority women for much of her life.

Tanya believes that small business is an integral part of a sustainable and healthy local and global economy, where all citizens can participate and have an opportunity to make a better life for themselves. Ms. Parks has encouraged micro-enterprise in the developing world by supporting women’s craft cooperatives and providing opportunities to sell their local handicrafts at her store at fair trade prices.

Ms. Parks is an active member of both the provincial and federal Liberal parties. She currently serves as Chair of the Manitoba Liberal Party Women’s Association and is the Director of the Manitoba Provincial Liberal Women’s Association. Ms. Parks also ran as the Liberal Candidate for Elmwood-Transcona in 2004.
