Born in Wingham , Ontario , Chris Schnurr, aged 32, moved to Windsor in 2001 to begin working at the AIDS Committee of Windsor as a Youth Outreach Co-ordinator. Studying Political Science at the Université d'Ottawa and now Communications Studies at the University of Windsor , Chris now is the assistant to the Vice-President, University Advancement at the University of Windsor. In addition, he also operates his own graphic design business.

He became politically active in 1993 when he was elected president of the former Progressive Conservative Youth Association in Sarnia-Lambton, and was a member of the Board of the Progressive Conservative Windsor-West riding association in Windsor until 2003. In addition, he has volunteered for various non-profit organizations including the AIDS Committee of Windsor, and the United Way of Sarnia-Lambton. As well, he organized the first red-ribbon campaign and AIDS Walk in Sarnia-Lambton in 1999 raising over $10,000 for services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

In his free-time, he enjoys reading, writing short stories, as well as playing both piano and guitar.
