Bishop, Jillana

Ontario, Windsor West, Green Party of Canada

Jillana Bishop is the Green Party of Canada candidate for Windsor-West. Born and raised in Windsor, she graduated Massey Secondary School with honours, and is now employed full time as a machine operator. She is happily married.

Over the years she has volunteered with developmentally challenged children, and also as a tutor. She has been involved in many neighbourhood litter clean up days. She is also an active member of the Scottish Society of Windsor Pipe Band, playing many charity events, and teaching piping students.

An outdoor enthusiast and lifelong environmentalist, Jillana was drawn to the Green Party after reading the Green Values and policies.

Among her many priorities are:

- Educating Canadians that real, sustainable alternatives exist, and that we, as a country, will benefit from a more responsible lifestyle.

- Ensuring a transparent and accountable government, to regain voter confidence.

- Addressing regional air pollution, and the dumping of waste into the Great Lakes basin.

- Ensuring that our many natural resources are protected for future generations

- Focusing attention on the research and prevention of illnesses, not just the treatment.

- Implementing our obligations to the Kyoto Accord by reducing greenhouse gases.
