David McGuinty has been committed and dedicated to public service for the past sixteen years and hopes to bring his extensive experience to bear at both the local riding and national level.

Mr. McGuinty, a fluently bilingual environmental and natural resources lawyer, served as President and CEO of the Prime Minister’s National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy (NRTEE) for more than eight years.

Prior to the NRTEE, he worked for many years outside of Canada with the United Nations and the International Development Law Organization, helping emerging economies and developing countries in Africa, Asia, the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe find economic opportunities and improve quality of life.

Mr. McGuinty has also worked as an international lawyer, both in private practice and with two international non-governmental organizations he helped to create. He has also worked as an immigration officer, taught at the University of London (UK), and helped run a succession of family-owned businesses.

He has a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a Bachelor of Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Ottawa, a Diploma in Agriculture from Kemptville College, and is a Harvard University trained and certified negotiator and mediator.

Mr. McGuinty is married to Brigitte Bélanger and together they have four children.
