Van Nort, Carolyn

Ontario, Haldimand - Norfolk, Green Party of Canada

Born and raised in Dunnville, Ontario, Carolyn Van Nort has recently returned to her hometown after residing in York Region for the past thirteen years. She is happily married to David, and together they are the parents of three active boys.

Carolyn attended the University of Toronto and the Michener Institute of Applied Health Sciences. Since graduating in 1985, she has been employed in both hospitals and private clinics as a Medical Radiation Technologist. She believes that the current health care system is focused too heavily on the management of disease and treatment of symptoms. More and more taxpayer’s money is being chanelled into health care, yet more and more people are becoming seriously ill. The long-term solution is a health care system that targets wellness promotion and aims to help Canadians restore balance to the body, mind, and spirit by using a holistic approach and by treating the causes of disease.

In her personal life, Carolyn is an avid camper and a passionate environmentalist. She uses and promotes environmentally friendly household products, uses energy and water resources prudently, and chooses organic foods for her family as much as possible. Carolyn considers herself to be a spiritual person. She practices meditation, Tai Chi, and has achieved certification in Brain Gym. Her hobbies include homeopathy, non-fiction reading, and playing the guitar.

Carolyn has served on the Parent Council at her sons’ schools for the past two years. She is excited and proud to be representing the Green Party of Canada in the riding of Haldimand-Norfolk and encourages voters to investigate the Green Party’s perspective on issues that are of importance to them. She believes that by adopting Green Party values together at this time, we can make a difference that will ensure a sustainable Canada for generations to come.
