Dave was born in Chatham, Ontario on October 7, 1955. A life-long resident of Chatam, Dave attended John McGregor Secondary School.

After graduating from high school, Dave began working in the auto business, and in 1985 became the proprietor and operator of his own dealership, Van Kesteren Hyundai, which sells new and used vehicles. As Dealer Principle, he is one of 15 dealers across Canada to win the coveted “President’s Award of Merit” from Hyundai Auto Canada in 2004.

Dave deeply committed to his community and is actively involved in Rotary Sunrise Program, as well as President of Christian Business Association for Chatham Kent Essex. He also recently sat on the board of for Restorative justice, an association that seeks to offer young offenders the option of community service as well as being a mediator between the Victim and Perpetrator.

Dave is married to his wife Faye of 30 years. Together they have 8 children and 8 grandchildren.
