Lloyd St. Amand was first elected as Member of Parliament for Brant in the 2004 general election.

Mr. St. Amand has served as a member of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development. He is also a member of several Caucus Committees as well as a member of several Parliamentary Friendship Associations.

Prior to entering federal politics, Mr. St. Amand, a resident of Brantford since 1979, practiced law on a full-time basis.

Throughout his years in the Brant riding, Mr. St. Amand has been involved in a number of community organizations. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the St. Joseph's Hospital, the Brant Waterways Foundation, and the Nova Vita Women's Services. He was a Big Brother for ten years and coached minor hockey for seven years.

A long-time member of the Liberal Party, Mr. St. Amand was an active participant in the Brant Federal Liberal Riding Association, and an active member of The Honourable Jane Stewart's election campaigns.

He has been involved in a long-time relationship with Helen Dallaway, the mother of two sons.
