We are writing you on behalf of the above Committee, which now has thousands of people who want to see Heward Grafftey elected as our next Member of Parliament.

The people of Brome-Missisquoi are crying out for change - for honesty to return to our government. They are enraged the millions of taxpayers’ dollars were used for political purpose in that province of Quebec and in Brome-Missisquoi. For this and other reasons, Liberal support has plunged down in Brome-Missisquoi. The race is between Heward Grafftey and the Bloc.

Heward is a strong federalist and he is appealing to all federalists in Brome-Missisquoi to support his candidacy. He is asking fellow citizens «not to split the federalist vote». While Heward has never played politics with the question of national unity, he’s been informed that, according to the polls, he is the only candidate who can beat the Bloc. Let us make sure that when we wake up the day after the election, our great riding is not represented by a separatist MP.

The Harper-led Conservatives will not get a sear in the province of Quebec. Harper’s original opposition to the official languages act sealed his fate in our province. He and his party will never take power. Canadians reject their extreme right wing position.

Cartier and Macdonald, the two principal Fathers of Confederation, brought Canadians together and united Canada. They called themselves Progressive Conservatives. Heward Grafftey is following in their tradition and presenting himself as a Progressive Conservative. When the Liberals are finally defeated, we shall have a Progressive Conservative government in Ottawa - progressive in social policy and conservative in economic policy. We ask the citizens of Brome-Missisquoi to join hands with Heward and take part in this historic initiative. This is the time for a change and the citizens of Brome-Missisquoi, in working with Heward, will sow the seeds for change. Together we shall get things done.

There are many other reasons why our committee is supporting Heward. He is an honest man and will play his part in restoring honesty to government. He is in good health and has walked hundreds of miles meeting his electors. Of course he has not met everybody. Some were not in when he called. Those he has not met, he hopes to meet in the near future. Yes! Heward «keeps in touch» - not only at election time.

The thousands of members of our commitee are supporting Heward for many reasons. What are some of them?

He was elected seven times before as our Member of Parliament. Many say he was the best Member we ever had. Heward has experience which he will put to work for us. Over the past years, the present sitting member has seen hundreds of jobs lost and has done nothing about it. When Heward was our member he brought in thousands of new jobs into our riding. He will do the same again if elected.
