Julia Harnett

Top 18

With the support of her husband and son (and her third time auditioning) Julia Harnett has learned that the third time really is a charm. “I forgot how to speak,” the Calgary native said when asked how she reacted to hearing she would be a part of the Top 22 for Season 3. Julia has grown up around a lot of Calgary talent, but admires all Canadian dancers. “We add flavour from our many cultures into our dancing. This makes our style even more unique!”

Latin Ballroom is Julia’s primary style of dance, but she also understands the importance of expanding her talent. Starting dance at the age of four, Julia has also trained in ballet, jazz, highland, musical theatre and modern. Travelling for dance is also not foreign to this Latin lady, having performed in Japan and in the United States on the Carnival Cruise Line. On the right path to success, Julia is ready to blow Canada away saying, “SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA brings dancers into the spotlight and gives the public a chance to appreciate the blood, sweat and tears we put into creating a beautiful product.”

When not in the ballroom, Julia enjoys cooking and loves everything Star Wars. In her down time she chooses travelling, photography, gardening and shopping. When asked what the most outrageous thing is she has every done, she answered, “I got married really young! This was also the best thing I’ve ever done.”

Still trying to grasp what will come in the following weeks, Julia is excited to get started. “Viewers can expect to see a dancer who is driven and wants to live life to the fullest, and who wants to show Canada that it is possible to achieve your dreams when you persevere.” Ready for a challenge, Julia is most nervous to perform, “hip-hop! I have trouble getting down with my bad self.”
