Fourth Runner-Up Hailing from the small town of Glen Morris, Ontario, Everett Smith is the first-ever tap dancer to make it into the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Top 20. After competing at the World Tap Championships in Berlin, Germany and dancing in Hairspray the movie, Everett has taken his tap shoes around the globe to show the world what he's got and is now ready to prove to Canada that a tap dancer belongs in the Top 20. The 25-year-old dancer says he was "totally shocked" to make the Top 20, but is thrilled to be here. Having trained in a variety of styles, among which are jazz, ballet and hip-hop, Everett claims that after Finals Week he "hurt in places that I didn't know I could hurt!" Everett has a great support system which includes his family, his instructors and friends. He is ready to leave his heart on the dance floor each and every week, and can't wait to show Canada what he's made of. A big fan of Gene Kelly, Everett has been inspired by different dance concepts and movements since joining the Top 20. During Finals Week, he said he made a lot of great friends and has a new appreciation for other styles of dance. He believes Canadians are such great dancers because they have top notch training and work with experienced choreographers. Everett believes he has made it this far in SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA because he has been true to himself and has embraced every moment throughout the audition process. He says the most challenging part of the competition has been watching friends leave. Therefore, he's planning on pushing through every routine and staying around for as long as possible. |
