Season Two WINNER!

When SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA judge and choreographer Jean Marc Genereux announced she had made it into the Top 20, Tara-Jean Popowich claims to have lost control of her body. "It was the best feeling in the world," she says. The 20-year-old dance teacher and choreographer promises to put her heart and soul into each and every one of her performances.

The audtion process has not only motivated Tara-Jean to perfect different dance styles and techniques, but it has also given her a great respect for all other genres. "This show has made me appreciate dance even more. Now I really feel like the luckiest girl in the world," she says.

Supported by her family and friends, Tara-Jean is ready to face tough competition from the remaining Top 20 dancers. She looks to one person in particular for inspiration. "My mom is such a strong women. I wouldn't be who I am or where I am today if it wasn't for her," she declares.

Viewers may be surprised to learn that despite her conservative appearance, Tara-Jean has three tattoos. When asked to name the most outrageous things she's ever done, she lists both scuba diving with sharks in Australia and bungee jumping.

If given the opportunity, the Albertan would most like to work with choreographers Mia Michaels because Tara-Jean says "she always gets people into a whole different world," and fellow Albertian Stacey Tookey, who she believes "creates amazing choreography and is a glorious dancer and choreographer."

Tara-Jean feels that Canadian dancers must work harder to make a name for themselves in this competitive industry. She is looking forward to gaining exposure as a result of being a member of the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE CANADA Top 20. "Besides," she says, "dancing on that stage for my family and friends is the best thing anyone could ever ask for."
