Education is an important part of pulling Malawi out of extreme poverty.

But when the average child has to walk an half an hour in order to get clean drinking water - school ceases to be a priority.

We visited two schools while in Malawi. The first near Kasungu, outside of Llilongwe, where we saw some muddy "classrooms," and toured the "revolutionary" outdoor urinals for both boys AND girls.

We witnessed first-hand the importance of putting a water source at the school and teaching the children about life-saving hygiene, not grammar and arithmetic.
