Five Christmas Wreaths That Dazzle
Whether you look forward to dressing your pet up for the holidays, or balk at the thought, chances are you’ll be including your furry, fishy or feathered family member in one way or another.
With humans coming and going to events, on vacations, or just busying about, the holidays are stressful on domestic animals. Here are five ways to keep them in the spirit and show them you care.

Gilded/Glass Ball Wreaths
Buying, or -- for the more ambitious – making, a wreath that uses spherical shaped ornaments in shiny metallics or jewel tones is another good option. Again look for quality and durability, and be sure to store properly, to ensure you can enjoy your wreath for years to come. |
Jingle Bell Wreaths
Wreaths that are comprised of metal jingle bells glued together to form the traditional circular shape win us over for their hardiness and the lovely ring of the bells each time the door opens or closes. (Great for catching teens sneaking in past their curfew!) |
Dried Fruit, Herb or Nut Wreaths
Dried cranberries, red pistachios, dried herbs, and even dried apple, pear or orange slices can all be incorporated into a stunning and fragrant rings that can be hung up with the addition of some beautiful ribbon and then safely discarded in the compost or green bin.

Found Object Wreaths
Almost anything can be transformed into a wreath if it’s glued onto the appropriate form. Bottle caps, vintage toys or ornaments, candies, lights – you name it. The key is to take one thing and go for it whole hog. Don’t use moderation when gluing on the objects. Make sure every inch of the wreath form is covered with the fun item of choice for maximum visual impact. This is a fun craft to do with the kids! |
Fresh Evergreen Wreaths
In this modern wave of eco-consciousness, it’s important to consider “green” materials or purchasing classic items with longevity in mind. Buying fresh evergreen wreaths supports deciduous tree farms and green space, while scoring points for biodegradability, but disposing of the decorations on them might not be in the best interest of Mother Earth. Decorate your fresh wreath with good quality reusable ribbons and decorations that can be stored until next year and used again. And nothing beats the smell of the real thing.
