CTV unwraps holiday specials and new episodes this December

From a Park Avenue style holiday in New York to gift drives in Dog River, CTV celebrates the holidays with new treats and classic favourites this December.

Shrek The Halls (Dec. 11, 8 p.m. ET)
Just when Shrek thought he would finally be able to sit back, relax and enjoy his “happily ever after” life with his new family, the most joyous of all holidays arrives. It's Christmas Eve, and everyone is filled with holiday cheer, except for Shrek. He isn't exactly the picture of yuletide joy, but for the sake of Fiona and the kids, he tries to get into the spirit of things as only an ogre can. 

Corner Gas – “Merry Gasmas" (Dec. 11, 8:30 p.m. ET)
Brent must find a way to cope when he finds out that Emma has plans for a traditional Christmas. Lacey has decided to head home to Toronto for the holidays. Thanks to the weather, she ends up taking the scenic route which, while getting her home, doesn’t get her to Toronto.

Rita McNeil’s Christmas Special (Dec. 10, 8 p.m. ET)
Rita MacNeil is back to bring some holiday cheer. Celebrating with friends, family and even a few pets, count on Rita to attract some well-loved musicians to help ring in the holiday season. Olympic Gold Medalists Sale and Pelletier and Patti LaBelle guest star.

An Avonlea Christmas (Dec. 16, 7 p.m. ET)
From the classic Canadian series Road to Avonlea, comes the holiday special "An Avonlea Christmas," which pays tribute to the indomitable and sometimes intolerable matriarch of the King family, Hetty King. When she suddenly collapses during the holidays, Hetty is hospitalized. Feeling homesick and alone, she begins to re-evaluate her relationships and her accomplishments in life.

Gossip Girl (Dec. 18, 9 p.m. ET)
Blair’s father tells her that he and his boyfriend Roman bought a vineyard in France. Blair feels sad because the day she envisioned spending with her father doesn't turn how she thought it would. And Serena is shocked when Lily announces she is dating Bart Bass.

A Christmas Carol (1951) (Dec. 24, 11:30 p.m. ET)
The 1951 version of A Christmas Carol, is widely considered to be the definitive of the many film adaptations of Charles Dickens' classic novel. Starring Alistair as Ebenezer Scrooge, a London miser who, despite his wealth, refuses to make charitable contributions and treats his sole employee, Bob Cratchit, as an indentured servant.
