Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. reports on housing starts in July. Economists expect 184,000 annualized starts, down from a revised figure of 192,800 a month earlier.

Statistics Canada reports on the new housing price index for June. A rise of 0.3 per cent from the previous month is expected.

U.S. Department of Commerce reports on wholesale inventories for June. An increase of 0.5 per cent is forecast, unchanged from a month earlier.

The U.S. Federal Reserve Board announces its interest rate decision. The key lending rate is expected to remain at 0.25 per cent.

The University of Michigan issues its preliminary report on U.S. consumer sentiment in August. A reading of 71.5 is forecast, up from 67.8 the previous month.

Cameco Corp. reports. Analysts expect second-quarter share profit of 24 cents, down from 36 cents a year ago.
