Democratic Sen. Zell Miller
Miller, a 72-year-old Democratic Senator, is slated to deliver the
keynote address in Madison Square Garden on Wednesday -- filling the
same role, in the same venue, that he played for Bill Clinton at the
Democratic convention 12 years earlier.

Miller, who served as Georgia's lieutenant governor for 16 years and
as governor for eight, has been quoted proudly touting his record of
never voting Republican in 52 years of going to the polls.

His recent political about-turn, however, reportedly stems from the
2001 terror attacks on New York and Washington. He's not planning to
seek re-election when his term expires in January.
