California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger
He's the biggest star in the Republican Party. So big, some say, he
could mount his own bid for the Oval Office if it weren't for the
fact he is Austrian-born.
While he may not be beating a path to the White House, he has
nevertheless been vaulted to the party's upper echelons. Married into
American political nobility, he was elected governor of the world's
fifth-largest economy after a short campaign to replace his ousted
predecessor.
Since taking office, he's managed to pursue his middle of the road
agenda -- he supports both abortion rights and gun control, for
example, while still pleasing conservatives with his fiscal policies.
As a so-called radical centrist, Arnie is emerging as a leader of
other moderate republican that includes John McCain, Rudy Giuliani and
Secretary of State Colin Powell, all of who are already incredibly
popular politicians across all sectors of the American population.
