Peggy Noonan
The GOP's resident speechwriter for nearly 25 years, Noonan will
also be watching from the wings.

Credited with penning some of Ronald Reagan and George Bush's most
memorable speeches -- notably the phrase "kinder, gentler America"
that the latter adopted to soften his party's image after two terms
of Reagan conservatism -- she won't be putting words in Dubya's
mouth, however.

She's been hired to help New York Governor George Pataki and
Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum deliver a memorable address when
the pair take the stage for their fifteen minutes in the convention
spotlight.
