Karl Rove
While the party trots its stars onto the convention stage, many of
the biggest party insiders will be backstage.

In that group, Rove is a veteran. A longtime Republican Party player,
Rove joined George Bush senior's election campaign in 1980, after
which he turned his namesake consulting firm, Karl Rove and Company,
exclusively to the task of getting Republicans elected.

Famous for attending nearly half a dozen colleges without earning a
degree, Rove has since sold his company to devote himself to his role
as George W. Bush's chief political strategist.
