Thousands of Canadians have been stranded by Jetsgo's sudden demise. Whether it was a family trying to get to Florida for spring break, or a couple en route to their wedding. Following are a collection of Jetsgo passengers' tales of woe.

I purchased tickets for Tuesday March 15 to take my brand new daughter and my five year old son to Ontario. It was to be the first time my family would meet Julianna, who is 8 weeks old. Sixty hours later Jetsgo is gone and the $600 dollars I spent is in limbo.
Although the money I spent will eventually be refunded through the travel agency, it will take up to two months, since refunds can't actually be processed until the service is not provided.
I am getting more and more angry when I think that Jetsgo was selling tickets up until two hours before they grounded their fleet. I find it difficult to believe that no one knew this would happen and wasn't ethical enough to say we shouldn't be selling tickets we don't intend to honour.
Now, I cannot afford to pay out another $700-$1000 dollars. By the time I finally do get home, my newborn will no longer be a newborn and all those grandparents waiting to meet their new granddaughter will have to wait.

I am a student at the University of Waterloo currently enrolled in kinesiology. Every year universities from all over Canada who offer a kin degree participate in an organized weekend event called the KIN GAMES. The weekend is full of events that students participate in against other universities.
Most schools have around 40 students participating in the games each year. This year the kin games were to be held at the University of Alberta beginning on March 18th. When students were informed of Jetsgo Bankruptcy they were devastated. I'd say that 97 per cent of students who were attending this year purchased Jetsgo tickets because of their affordability.
With such short notice, not many university students have the money to put down on another over-priced airline ticket worth $600+ for just a weekend. This forces most students to drop out of the games. Some schools such as York have completely dropped out of the competitions all together. On top of that, all students who are no longer going lose their $100 games deposit because it is non-refundable and has already been spent in the games organization.
To think that each school's organizers had put so much time and effort outside of school hours to organize the trip for the other students; After all of the hard work the University of Alberta has put into this as the host, it was very sad news.

My wife and I had our first baby on Feb. 22, a beautiful healthy little girl. I had booked four tickets from Ottawa to Calgary return, back in December, when Jetsgo was having an unbelievable seat sale. We live in Calgary and my wife's family lives in Ottawa.
Her parents were coming down to see their very first grandchild and her sister of course her first niece. They all would have been here on the 21st of March. The news that Jetsgo folded was devastating. We rebooked her parents on an alternate airline (for double the price, of course). But her sister just didn't have the money to buy more tickets. Hopefully my credit card company pulls through and we get the charges reversed.

Our son is graduating from Champlain College in Lennoxville Quebec on May 6, 2005. I booked seats for my wife and I so that we may attend the ceremony and see our son, I also booked a flight for my son so he could return home with us. A total of $1302.00 was charged to my card on March 02, 2005, nine days before they went bankrupt and two months before I was scheduled to fly.
There should be some kind of provision for monies paid in advance be put in a trust and only be allowed to be paid to the airline a week in advance of flying. I think that Jetsgo handled the whole bankruptcy deal very poorly and without regard for the travelling public.

I had purchased tickets for my two children and I to fly from Ottawa to Calgary to visit family for March break. We were to fly out on March 11 at 7 a.m. At 6 a.m. We arrived at the Ottawa airport to find out that Jetsgo was not flying. We were able to buy tickets from West Jet to fly out to Calgary for the same time of 7 a.m., and we bought tickets on Air Canada to come home on the 18th. Our trip will not be affected but our pocketbook definitely was. We spent $1337 for the Jetsgo tickets and then $1365 to fly to Calgary and $1258 to fly home! A very expensive trip, and with prices expected to go up now we may not be back out for a long time.

I booked four tickets March 4 for a trip I was taking in May. On March 10th, at 9 p.m. I booked a 5th ticket for my grandmother to accompany us. Three hours later, Jetsgo shut down, and I'm out $1138.
I consider myself one of the lucky people in this whole situation. I booked these flights online with a credit card. My credit card company has said that after I miss my flight about 4-5 weeks later I will get my money back. So around July I should, if all goes according to plan, get to see at least some of this money returned.
In the meantime, I will just have to wait. Being a student single parent, it is hard to have an extra thousand dollars set aside for IF and WHEN an airline decides to rip you off.

Luckily, my 1 year old daughter, my husband and I WEREN'T at the airport to hear the news on Friday morning. That would have been the worst and I feel terrible for those people.
Friday morning something told me plunk my butt down in front of the computer before I even went downstairs to pour a coffee. So I sign on and there is an email from Jetsgo. I open it and it tells me that my return flight from Ft Lauderdale in April has been changed. It will now be leaving 40 minutes later than originally scheduled. This email was sent to me at 11:40 p.m.
Then, as I back out of email, there it is on my homepage under CTV news. "Jetsgo Ceases Operations" "EH???", I wonder. So I call my mother (who is up every day at 6 like clockwork and I know she's been watching somebody's news). It's true.
Call my husband at work "Eh?!?!?!?" he exclaims. Then he tells me to scramble and find us another flight at the end of the month because he NEEDS a vacation and "as long as it doesn't cost us $2,000 grand a person, book it!"
It almost did, but we're going. We're one of the lucky ones that were able to do it. Even luckier that we weren't travelling on Friday.

Michel Leblanc should be held accountable to all those poor ticket holders this morning. He personally should pay them all back. Funny the timing of this announcement when all those tickets are paid for, and there is nothing to deliver. Shame on Jetsgo.

I booked a flight less than 48 hours ago. Do you expect me to believe, the owners at JetsGo didn't know the shutdown was taking place. Weather or not a company is privately owned or publicly traded, when money exchanges hands for their services or products, a promise is made from that said company.
When the company fails to honour their commitment with prior knowledge of closing up shop, it becomes fraud. Being this company is based in Quebec, it'll be interesting to see how the boy's in the Liberal neighbourhood, handle the situation.
The sad part is nothing will probably happen, because nothing ever happens in Canada!

According to the Minister's comments this morning, people such as myself who booked Jetsgo tickets on line are out of luck - easy for him to say, when our holiday is ruined!!!!!!
Why would we not be reimbursed by the government for charges that have nothing to do with Jetsgo?
We pre-paid $875.72 for two tickets from Toronto to Vancouver return on Jetsgo. But only $650.00 is for the travel, $86.00 is for a Government surcharge, $30.00 is for Toronto Terminal 3 AIF, $30.00 is for Vancouver Terminal AIF, $57.28 is for GST, and $22.44 is for Security.
That is $225.72 of tax that is collected on services we will not receive and this is just as obscene as Jetsgo taking the $650 and running.

My best friend of 15 years in getting married on August 20, 2005. Her name is Jennifer Long and she lives in Nobleton, Ontario.
She and her fiancée Al booked their honeymoon flight to Newfoundland through Jetsgo in January when they had their $20.05 seat sale. The couple wasn't even going to go on a Honeymoon due to finances but the cheap air flight enabled them to go for one week. They were scheduled to leave on August 22nd and return on August 28th.
Now that Jetsgo has gone under they have no flight and no additional funds for a Honeymoon. The bride is devastated.

I will speak on behalf of a few people in my industry that had booked their flights for the Juno Awards festival weekend in Winnipeg. Due to Jetsgo closing their doors, we were forced to scramble finding a new ticket for almost double with a competitor and not at ideal times. One person I know will not be making their way out to the Juno's now as ticket prices are too high for that weekend. I feel as if a damper was put on my weekend before I even left. The uncertainty of not having the money refunded as well as having the increase in a business expense can ruin your spirits for what is suppose to be a fun filled weekend celebrating Canadian music.

Well I wasn't a stranded tourist but I was still effected by the closure of Jetsgo. In November I was to fly to Ottawa for the Grey Cup game but sadly I was unable to go as my father was admitted to hospital and passed away Christmas Day 2004.
I cancelled my flight in time and was given a travel credit for my next flight. Well I guess that won't happen. It's hard enough now paying for a funeral and now I find out I have dished out even more for nothing. So needlessly to say I'm not a happy camper.

I am very pissed off Jetsgo has no consideration for anybody. Me sister booked her ticket last week to come out to Alberta to see her first niece and now has lost the money and has no money to book a plane ticket. I hope they are happy for ruining everyone's plans. They could have at least warned everyone that this may happen.
