The ferris wheel and other rides in the abandoned amusement park in the deserted city of Pripyat. The park was scheduled to open on May 1, 1986, but the city of 47,000 had already been evacuated after the April 26, 1986, explosion of Reactor No. 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The explosion scattered radioactive particles across Europe in the world's worst-ever nuclear disaster. |
