Are they together or aren’t they? Speculation over the real-life relationship between the star-crossed lovers of the Twilight series has been tabloid fodder for more than a year now. And with new pictures showing some public canoodling between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson –- along with reports of a hotel stay -- it seems the pair have fallen for each other off-screen as well. So in celebration of young celebrity love, CTV.ca takes a look at some of the hottest Hollywood couples who have sizzled -- and fizzled -- off-screen after hooking up on the silver screen.

The set:

This mismatched couple fell for each while filming and then shocked the entertainment world with a quickie wedding – Thoronton’s fifth. The pair continued to make waves after wearing vials of each other’s blood at red carpet events. The only thing not shocking about this couple? Their divorce after only three years of marital bliss.

No one could deny the on-screen chemistry between these two sexy stars, so it wasn’t a big shocker when the pair was spotted in Africa together months after filming. Well, maybe it was a shocker to Pitt’s then-wife Jennifer Aniston. And unlike Jolie’s previous workplace fling, this relationship continues to sizzle…even if the tabloids report otherwise.

The set:

Sizzled or fizzled?
It seems both Pitt and Jolie share a pattern of falling for co-stars. Pitt became smitten with Paltrow during filming, and the pair even got engaged. But Hollywood’s then-golden couple didn’t make it to altar. They called it quits a few months before their planned late-summer wedding, shocking the media and friends alike.

This pair, who were both married while filming this made-for-TV movie, became the subject of speculation after a strong ‘friendship’ developed between them. Despite denying any infidelity, the two announced respective divorces within a month. They followed this by a trip to Mexico and were recently photographed holding hands on a date in Hollywood.

Sizzled or fizzled?
The connection between these cute Canucks overjoyed fans of 'The Notebook.' The pair, who both shared humble small town roots, were inseparable during their three-year relationship. At one point rumoured to be engaged, they have since split , and reconciled, and then split again. But neither are in serious relationships, so perhaps a Notebook ending might still be in sight.

This couple sizzled while filming the Oscar-winning film, but quickly fizzled after it wrapped. Instead of a keeping things private, Damon famously announced that he was on the market during an interview on Oprah. According to early reports, Driver didn’t know about the split until she heard Damon’s TV rant .

Sizzled or fizzled?
According to co-stars, these two were open about being together on set, apparently making ‘googly-eyes’ at each other. Williams got pregnant early in their relationship and they wore wedding bands, but they refused to confirm or deny a marriage. In 2007, publicists for the couple announced an ‘amicable’ split to their three-year relationship.

The set:
Days of Thunder, 1990
Sizzled or fizzled?
Kidman, then a relatively unknown actress, says she fell hopelessly in love with Cruise while filming together. And despite being warned against marrying the superstar, she walked down the aisle the same year the film was released at the age of 23. Their ten-year marriage proved to short men everywhere that height doesn’t matter.

Drew Barrymore and Tom Green
The set:
Charlie’s Angels, 2000
Sizzled or fizzled?
Barrymore, who was a fan of Green’s show, arranged for the Canadian comedian to have a small role in the film she was starring in and producing. The pair fell for each other on set and became engaged before the film premiered. Not surprisingly, this seemingly mismatched couple filed for divorce only six months after being married.

This poster-couple for on-set romance first met while filming in 1968, but the sparks didn’t start to fly until they re-connected while on the set of Swing Shift in 1983. More than twenty-five years later, this pair still sizzles on the red carpet and are known to be affectionate with each other in public.

Sizzled or fizzled?
These look-alike stars hooked up back in 2006 while filming a romantic comedy, even though Matt Dillon played Hudson’s love interest. Unlike her mother’s relationship, Hudson’s - didn’t last. The pair split and Hudson has since moved on to Yankee’s player Alex Rodriguez -- who she hasn't co-starred with ... yet.

Sarandon played an experienced woman who took on a younger baseball player as lover. In real life, the pair hit it off as well and have been domestic partners ever since, despite Robbins being 12 years Sarandon’s junior. The couple have two children and are very politically active.

Affleck caused a stir when he placed an ad in a paper complimenting the then-married Lopez’s talent and grace while filming. A few months later, Lopez had divorced her dancer beau and so ‘Bennifer’ was born. The pair’s wedding was called off days before the event, and within a calendar year, Lopez had married singer Marc Anthony. Meanwhile, Affleck had hooked up with a new co-star Jennifer Garner.

This pair claimed to be friends while filming, but their touchy-feely antics on set made the tabloids believe otherwise. A trip to Vaughn’s hometown to see his parents and some public displays of affection proved that this pair was for real – or were truly dedicated to building a buzz around the film. However, after a year of dating, the two parted ways and so completed the typical cycle of on-set romance.
