It was a classic sports utility brand, and a symbol of ruin for environmentalists. Now General Motors has announced that it's moving ahead with the brand's shutdown, and is offering big rebates on existing vehicles.

But here was another sign of the times. A sales manager in Miami posed with the Cadillac-Hummer in August 2009. By this time, the Hummer H3T was eligible for a U.S. federal rebate under the government's Cash for Clunkers program.
