Apps

HipMunk

  • WHY IT'S GREAT: This is a great app for planning your trip. It acts like a virtual assistant that you can interact with via email, Facebook messenger, Slack or Skype and it provides trip ideas and flight options. Bonus? It's free for iOS and Android devices.

TripIt
  • WHY IT'S GREAT: You simply forward your trip confirmation emails (i.e. hotel, flight, car rental, etc...) to plans@tripit.com and the free app automatically transforms your emails into a master itinerary so all of your plans are in one place. You can also access your itinerary anytime, on any device—even if you're offline!

GateGuru
  • WHY IT'S GREAT: This app (which is free for iOS, Androids and Windows Phone) gives you detailed information about airports, such as maps, terminal info, airport tips, etc... It's ideal for travellers on the go, especially families who might be looking for kid-friendly activities in the airport.

  • WHY IT'S GREAT: If you want to catch up on reading while on vacation but don't want to weigh down your bags with heavy hardcovers, use an eReader! This battery lasts for weeks between charges.
