'The View' clip of the week: Prince does a walk-on
The purple one himself shocked the hosts and the audience as he sauntered on set during the “Hot Topics” segment of the show.
Noting that it was a “strange hour” for a rock star, Prince wore a single black leather glove and had a hard time getting his message out amidst the cat-calls of the audience.
PLEASE NOTE: This clip expires six days after “The View” airs, and will no longer be available online after Tuesday, Dec. 14.
In particular, host Sherri Shepherd seemed totally flabbergasted by Prince’s appearance, going so far as to have him say something special to her. Near the end of the segment, Sherri goes crazy, and is unable to restrain herself of her affection.
Prince was in New York City promoting his tour.
Barbara Walters couldn’t help but bring up Justin Bieber during the segment either, talking about how the young Canadian looked up to the rock star. Watch the clip to find out what kind of advice Prince had for Justin Bieber.
Prince, who is 52 years old, is notoriously shy and doesn’t usually make many television appearances. The musician, best known for his 1984 film “Purple Rain” with a soundtrack of the same name, will be inducted into the Grammy hall of fame in 2011.
His appearance on “The View” has also sparked a mini controversy. Watch the clip for yourself if you think the ladies annoyed Prince so much that he stormed off stage, or if he was just playing a joke on them.
It’s been an emotional week on “The View,” which also saw a return appearance from Lisa Ling, who used to be a host on the show. She talked about suffering her miscarriage and how she learned to open up about the issue.
