'Vampire Diaries' premieres Sept. 10 on CTV
As a new moon rises on the fall television season, CTV presents one of the year’s most-anticipated new dramas – "The Vampire Diaries" – premiering Thursday, September 10 in a special 8 p.m. ET timeslot on CTV.
To get viewers in the mood, Canadians will be the first to see this deliciously dark drama series when CTV.ca presents an exclusive sneak peak from the first episode, premiering online at the stroke of midnight on Wednesday, September 9 (11:59:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 8). Adding to the buzz, CTV.ca also presents a four-part Webisode series exploring the mythology of the new drama, "The Vampire Diaries: A Darker Truth", also premiering at 12 midnight Sept. 9.
Based on the best-selling book series of the same name by L. J. Smith, this biting drama stars Canadian actress Nina Dobrev as Elena, a young girl who becomes the object of desire for two vampire siblings, "The Vampire Diaries" will also be available on demand on The CTV Video Player at CTV.ca the day following the broadcast and on MuchMusic Fridays at 8 p.m. ET beginning September 11.

Four months after the tragic car accident that killed their parents, 17-year-old Elena Gilbert (Dobrev, "Degrassi: The Next Generation") and her 15-year-old brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen, "Everwood"), are still trying to cope with their grief. Elena has always been the star student – beautiful, popular and involved with school and friends – but now she finds herself struggling to hide her sadness from the world. Along with her Aunt Jenna (Sara Canning, "Smallville"), Elena tries her best to look after her troubled younger brother and salvage what family they have left.

In the premiere episode, Elena and Jeremy return to Mystic Falls High School following the death of their parents. The first day back is difficult for Elena until she meets the mysterious new kid at school, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley, "American Dreams"). The two are immediately drawn to one another, and Elena has no way of knowing that Stefan is a centuries-old vampire, struggling to live peacefully among humans. As their undeniable connection grows deeper, Stefan’s dangerous older brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder, "Lost") – the embodiment of vampire violence and brutality – shows up to wreak havoc on Mystic Falls. The two brothers – one good, one evil – are at war for Elena's soul and for the souls of her friends, family and all the residents of their small town.

A young man named Jason is on a crusade to avenge his sister's death. Finding his suspect, Stefan Salvatore, living in the town of Mystic Falls, Jason arrives, prepared to kill.

Jason breaks into Stefan's bedroom, where he lays traps he believes will weaken his target. He finds a diary and worries Stefan may be stalking someone else.
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: A DARKER TRUTH Webisode #3
Jason begins to think that the traps he set for Stefan were ineffective, failing to hurt the vampire. Realizing that he may be in way over his head, Jason begins to panic.
THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Webisode #4
Jason takes a more destructive approach and soon finds his own life in danger. He discovers that someone or something more vicious than Stefan may be behind the killings.
The Vampire Diaries also stars Katerina Graham (17 Again) as Bonnie Bennett; Candice Accola ("Supernatural") as Caroline Truitt; Zach Roerig ("As the World Turns") as Matt Donovan; Kayla Ewell ("The Bold and the Beautiful") as Vicki Donovan; and Michael Trevino ("Cane") as Tyler Lockwood.
