From a former “Melrose Place” resident getting “hot” in Cleveland, to a new villain on “The Vampire Diaries,” new faces, new storylines and new changes are in store for CTV’s  hottest sitcoms and dramas this fall.

Hot In Cleveland

It won’t just be hot in Cleveland this fall…it will be scorching hot! Heather Locklear, known to many as former “Melrose Place” bad girl Amanda, will be joining the fab four in a recurring role on “Hot in Cleveland” next season. According to TVguide.com, Locklear will play a former Miss Ohio beauty queen-turned- public relations executive who hires Melanie (Valerie Bertinelli) for three episodes during the show’s fourth season.

Up All Night

The writers of “Up All Night” can finally get some sleep now that they’ve announced the latest changes to the show’s upcoming sophomore season. As reported by the A.V. Club (on a set visit to “Up All Night”) the show will remove its “show-within-a-show” gimmick to focus more on relatable storylines involving the friendships between the characters. That means fans won’t see the talk show “Ava” around anymore, although her character will remain (as played by Maya Rudolph).

But what will Ava do now that she’s not working on her show? Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace”) has joined the cast as Ava’s former accompanist from her days as a rhythm and blues singer. It seems they’ll be working together again, but on a project that will be revealed as the season rolls out.

Another new addition to the cast is Luka Jones (as reported by Deadline.com). Best known for his work on “Best Friends Forever,” Jones will be joining the show as Reagan’s younger brother Scott. His character will be a recently divorced dad with a young son.

The Vampire Diaries

With the premiere just two months away, details on the upcoming fourth season continue to roll out from the cast.  The most recent news (as reported by The Hollywood Reporter) reveals the season will feature a new villain that isn’t Katherine or an Original. However, fans can expect to see Klaus (played by Joseph Morgan) back in Mystic Falls sooner than expected.

As for Klaus’ sister Rebekah (Claire Holt), she’ll still have the hots for Matt (Zach Roerig), but the feelings won’t be reciprocated. Fans will remember, Rebekah killed Elena and almost killed Matt in the season finale.

Besties Bonnie and Elena won’t be as close as they normally are for the first few episodes as they deal with the fallout of last season. However, they will come together again around episode four.

Finally, two new characters will be joining the show for the new season. After the show confirmed the appearance of a new vampire hunter and a new love interest for Jeremy at Comic Con 2012, fans can also expect to see a girl named Hailey, who has ties to Tyler’s past, and a university professor with ties to Bonnie’s grandmother Sheila. The latter two characters have yet to be cast, and will appear later during the season.

Criminal Minds

As the show heads into its eighth season, the BAU’s (behavioural analysis unit) resident awkward agent will finally get a love interest all to himself. Executive producer Erica Messer told TVguide.com that Spencer Reid (played by Matthew Gray Gubler) will fall in love with a new character, starting in episode four.

The yet-to-be-cast female will bond with Reid over their love of a particular author, and the romance will build from there. Along the way, viewers can expect to see the usual trademarks of Reid’s awkwardness as he navigates the dating world this fall.
