Guest stars galore as “CSI”, “Castle” and more pack in familiar faces for finale season

There will be no shortage of famous faces as 2012’s finale season shifts into high gear with old characters returning and new ones making their debuts. Let’s take a look at what you can expect as your favourite shows pull out all the stops:

The Big Bang Theory
There’s a ‘90s reunion scheduled for the hugely popular sitcom just in time for Howard’s bachelor party. According to The Hollywood Reporter, former “Grace Under Fire” star Casey Sander will reunite with the former boss Chuck Lorre, the creator of both “Grace” and “BBT.” Sander was cast as Mr. Rostenkowski, Bernadette’s father. He pays the gang a visit as they prepare for his daughter’s upcoming wedding to Howard.

Desperate Housewives
The women of Wisteria Lane are poised to welcome back former resident Katherine Mayfair.  As reported by The Huffington Post, Dana Delany is set to reprise her former role in the “Desperate” series finale airing in May. The Hollywood Reporter adds that “Everybody Loves Raymond” matriarch Doris Roberts will also make an appearance in the last episodes of the season as Gabrielle’s new employer.

Two and a Half Men
Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones will welcome two new guest stars on set before their season is through. According to Zap2it.com, former “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander is scheduled to appear in the penultimate episode. The actor confirmed the news via his Twitter account, but did not reveal any details about his role.  Kathy Bates is also set to appear on the series. As mentioned by The Hollywood Reporter, Bates will reprise the role of Charlie Sheen’s deceased character Charlie Harper (as his ghost) in early May.

Castle
Over on the crime-procedural side of television, “Castle” is set to reunite space cowboys Mal and Jayne from the short-lived sci-fi series “Firefly,” according to Tvline.com. Adam Baldwin will join his former co-star Nathan Fillion as detective Ethan Slaughter, an agent who encourages Castle (Fillion) to use unorthodox methods to solve cases.

The Mentalist
TVline.com also reports Canadian actress Emmanuelle Chriqui will guest star on the season finale as Lorelei, a potential love interest for Patrick.  Known for her work on “Entourage”, Chriqui will reportedly recur in the fifth season.

Criminal Minds
Tvguide.com reports that “Battlestar Galactica” actress Tricia Helfer will guest star on “Criminal Minds.”  She will play a dangerous bank robber in the finale.

CSI
Former “Frasier” star Peri Gilpin (Roz) has been cast as Allison, the wife of “CSI” agent D.B. Russell, played by Ted Danson. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Gilpin will make her first appearance in the season 12 finale, and recur next season.
