Alphabetizing books and synchronized swimming don’t seem like particularly dramatic Detours, but on Sunday’s episode of the “Amazing Race,” the two tasks proved to be just that.

In the episode titles "To Be Continued," the remaining six teams flew from Istanbul to Moscow where they had to choose between performing a synchronized swimming routine (complete with fancy flowered bathing caps!) or finding Cyrillic books at the Russian State Library

(Side note: both of those detours are this CTV.ca writer’s dream come true!)

That all seems straight forward – no strange animals to eat or daring physical feats to achieve – but even still, dating divorcees Abbie and Ryan and goat farmers, Brent and Josh missed a connecting flight and when they finally did arrive in Moscow, the library was closed. Time to (swimming) suit up!

Except, it turns out Brent isn’t much of a swimmer…at all. Ulp.

That’s no fun at all, but perhaps even more devastating than that, was the fate that awaited the rocker team. Abba and James left their bags in a taxi, hoping to make a fourth place finish, but host Phil Keoghan said they couldn’t continue without their passports (that were of course in their bags, in the missing taxi).

Double ulp.

As the title of the episode suggests, we’ll have to wait till next week to discover the fate of the non-swimming goat farmer and the passport-less rockers…

“Amazing Race” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on CTV. Full episodes are also available online at CTV.ca.
