Melanda is an ICU doctor as well as Alex’s best friend and confidante. She oversees the day-to-day care of Hope Zee’s most critically ill patients. Working in intensive care, Melanda has to be both companionate, and tough as nails. While Alex tries to balance her personal life with the workload of a chief surgical resident, Melanda helps her friend by being her eyes and ears in the ICU.Glenda Braganza
Born in Halifax and raised in Ottawa, Glenda attended Concordia University and earned a BFA with a Specialization in Theatre Performance. Glenda has performed on stages across Canada, and was recently seen in Don Quixote a co-production between Montreal's Centaur Theatre and Vancouver’s Arts Club. She has won the 2004 and 2010 Montreal English Critics’ Circle Award for Best Actress. Glenda is a founding member of Metachroma Theatre, a new company dedicated to the normalization of actors of color on stage.Glenda's film and television credits include: Gemini-nominated CTV movie Tripping Wire starring Clark Johnson; NBC’s television special 10.5 Apocalypse with Kim Delaney; and the IFC series The Business. Glenda was recently seen as series regular Rani in the CBC sit-com Men With Brooms.
Glenda lives in Montreal with her husband Mike, with whom she enjoys an active lifestyle, as well as a passion for travel and the culinary arts.
