‘Once’ preview: will Henry’s father finally be revealed?
Jack and the Beanstalk, a pregnant Emma Swan and Henry’s father revealed: it’s going to be one heck of a “Once Upon a Time” episode.
In a preview for Sunday night’s action-packed episode, titled “Tallahassee,” we see Emma joining forces with the questionable (but incredibly good-looking) Captain Hook, to find a magical compass that could transport her and Mary Margaret back to Storybrooke.
Hook informs her the compass is being kept by an angry giant (played by Jorge Garcia of “Lost”) who lives, yep you guessed it, at the top of a gigantic beanstalk.
But even though Mulan has concerns Hook is just using them to get the compass for himself, a determined Emma will not back down.
“I’m going and I’m not going to fail.”
We also get a glimpse into Emma’s past and it looks like the Storybrooke sheriff wasn’t always such an upstanding citizen.
In a flashback to Portland, Oregon, 11 years ago, we see Emma (looking preppy chic in a plaid skirt, leather jacket and black-rimmed glasses), jacking a car that just happens to be the yellow VW Beetle she currently drives around Storybrooke.
With her discreetly hidden tools, Emma breaks into the car and fires up the ignition like a pro – something that doesn’t go unnoticed to the owner of the car, who is hiding in the back seat! (We’re not sure why either)
“Impressive. But you could’ve just asked me for the keys,” says the man, who identifies himself as Neal Cassady. (This is the same man who we saw at the beginning of Season 2 who received a postcard from Storybrooke at his home in New York City that read ‘Broken’).
The episode synopsis for “Tallahassee” indicates he’s a fellow thief who “wants to make an honest woman out of her.” Um, ok.
We later see him and Emma, with a very pregnant belly no less, embrace, as she asks him if this is what he really wants.
“What I really want is you,” he replies.
Could this mysterious man be Henry’s father? Does he have anything to do with Emma giving birth to her son in a jail cell? And will we find out the reason he later abandoned her and his child?
We can’t wait to see how this very un-fairytale-like romance plays out.
“Once Upon a Time” airs Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on CTV. Full episodes are also available online at CTV.ca.
