'Nikita' season three details: new players, villains and a steamy shower scene!
In between bumping into the Avengers, the Justice League, Doctor Whos and zombies, television fans got a taste of what’s to come this season straight from the mouths of “Nikita”’s main cast during the San Diego Comic Con 2012.
The casts took time at the convention to answer questions from fans and reveal major plot points from the show’s upcoming third season. See photos from the panel here.
The “Nikita” panel kicked off its Comic Con 2012 Q&A session by confirming two recurring characters were bumped up to the main cast: recurring stars Noah Bean and Canadian Devon Sawa. Bean is featured right from the season premiere, but Sawa will return in episode four. From thereon in, the cast in attendance at Comic Con (Maggie Q., Shane West, Lyndsy Fonseca, Aaron Stanford and Melinda Clarke) kept revealing secret after secret for season three!
Let’s break it all down (* spoiler alert; plot details ahead – stop reading if you don’t want to know! *):
The first big reveal of the new season applies to the first moment the premiere episode picks up from last season’s finale. The story continues one month after those events with characters Ryan Fletcher (Bean) and main star Nikita (Q) running the newly rebranded Division. Their first mission is to hunt down the rogue agents still loyal to the series’ late villain, Percy (played by Xander Berkeley).
The show’s executive producer Craig Silverstein also teased that while Percy died in the finale, the show would love to have Berkeley return in flashbacks.
Fonseca revealed her character Alex would be exploring a romantic relationship this year with Sean (played by Dillon Casey), but it would be about as normal as you’d expect from people who carry firearms under their clothes.
She also said another layer would be added to her character’s story. On top of being a secret agent and having a love interest, Alex would also be a public figure, embracing her birthright as the rich Russian heiress Alexandria Udinov.
Clarke described her character Amanda as being exactly where Nikita was when the show first premiered: on her own and focused on taking down Division. Silverstein piped in that Amanda will return in the fourth episode of the season (with a new hairstyle), and would be the show’s main villain. He also teased Amanda would be getting a “female Roan” (a highly trained assassin) as a partner.
Aaron Stanford, who plays Nikita’s resident tech expert Seymour Birkoff, said he will continue to explore his relationship with Sonya, Amanda’s former tech expert. The pair will be working alongside each other in Nikita’s new Division.
But he teased it wouldn’t be easy for Birkoff because he has no idea how much he can trust Sonya, both as a former ally of Amanda and also as a brilliant mind whose intelligence and technical knowledge rival his own.
Silverstein then treated fans to a juicy spoiler: the fourth season will contain a very sexy shower scene between Nikita and Michael (played by West). The announcement was news to both Q and West, but they laughed and agreed it was overdue. They then apologized to journalists who had asked them about love scenes earlier, to which the acting duo had responded that none were in store.
As the panel wrapped up, the cast said they would be heading to Toronto, Ontario soon to start filming the third season.
Don’t miss an all-new season of “Nikita” starting this fall on CTV two.
