The Super Bowl Shuffle
Every now and then, people need to be reminded of greatness. This is one of those instances.
Yes, the dynasty that was the Mike Ditka era in Chicago has left an indelible mark on the game. Here at CTV.ca headquarters, we are genuinely worried that people have forgotten about the Da Bears’ iconic Super Bowl Shuffle. It defies explanation, yet needs none.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you need to stop whatever you’re doing and watch this video right now.
Digest what you’ve just seen by sipping on this equally stellar cocktail.
2 Parts Vodka
4 Parts Cranberry Juice
2 Parts real Grapefruit Juice
Garnish with Lime and the tears of your fallen opponent before serving in a tall glass.
Gridiron Gin Martini
For the sophisticated football fan, this take on the classic Gin Martini tastes great regardless of your team affiliation. We are dead serious about the cheese cube garnish, Packers fans.
1.5 Parts Gin
1 Part Dry Vermouth
Shake well with ice
Serve in Martini glass and garnish with olives and cheese cubes.
We should probably start by saying that this drink is intended to be shared, and, come game day, always remember to drink responsibly. However, if you couldn’t care less about the over-under, this cocktail is probably for you.
In honour of our illustrious host city, New Orleans, we present the Bourbon Bowl.
1 Part Bourbon
1 Part Gin
1 Part Vodka
1 Part Rum
2 Splashes of Grenadine
Dash Angostura Bitters
Juice from 1 lime
Top With Beer.
Serve in a fishbowl or similarly large glass over ice.
The Whole Nine Yards
If you are feeling flashy or just feel like showing off, this football-inspired cocktail is for you.
Be warned though, too many of these bad boys and you’ll end up looking more like Mark Sanchez and less like Peyton Manning.
Combine the following ingredients in a shaker:
2 Parts Bourbon
1 Part Sweet Vermouth
Dash Angostura Bitters
Squeeze of Lime
Pour in equal parts of Club Soda and Orange Juice and serve in a tall glass.
For the calorie-conscious fan! This is a classic twist on the Vodka Soda with a little game day fun mixed in. Garnish and splash up your cocktail with your favourite team’s colours.
Vodka and soda are the blank canvas of alcoholic beverages. If you're a Green Bay fan, try garnishing with a twist of lemon and a slice of lime to show your Packers pride. If you're supporting the 49ers, mix in some cranberry juice to achieve the perfect shade of red. If you like the Jets, stop reading this article. These recipes aren't for you.
1 Part Vodka
2 Parts Soda
Serve in tumbler of your choosing and support the team of your liking. Oh, and don't forget to add ice!
MVP: Most Valuable Punch
Peyton Manning's been named the NFL's Most Valuable Player on four occassions. After you try our punch, you'll be throwing touchdowns and writing records without even touching a ball.
1/2 Litre Orange Juice
1/2 Litre Grape Juice
One bottle of champagne
One cup of vodka
One cup of frozen berries/fresh fruit
Serve in bowl and garnish with orange slices.
Beer is good. Beer goes hand-in-hand with football. There is no fuss and no muss. Beer tastes great out of the bottle, or you can pour it in a glass if you are feeling fancy. Go for extra points with a team-branded stein or a cozy.
Twist to open
Repeat as necessary.
