‘Motive’ stars Lehman and Holly excited for series to air; thrilled by ABC pickup
Although filming of the first season of “Motive” is almost complete, Sunday night’s premiere will mark the first time the rest of the country will see the new series -- and stars Kristin Lehman and Lauren Holly can’t wait.
“I feel ready,” says Lehman, who plays lead detective Angie Flynn. “We’re going into the 12th episode. We’ve hit our stride and we want it to be out in the world now.”
“I want to know what people think of it,” adds Holly, who plays medical examiner Dr. Betty Rogers.
Both Lehman and Holly were in Toronto Thursday to promote “Motive."
The new dramatic series turns the classic police procedural on its head by revealing the killer and the victim in the first few minutes. It’s then up to Det. Flynn, along with her partner Det. Oscar Vega (Louis Ferreira), and the audience, to piece together the clues and find the “motive.”
News on Wednesday that the series has been picked up for a summer run south of the border by ABC has only added to the excitement.
“It can’t really be much more positive than that,” says Holly. “It means even more people are going to see it and that’s really good because I’m proud to be in it.”
Lehman is also thrilled, especially because she sees it as validation for the Vancouver-based show she calls “unapologetically Canadian.”
“It’s just about being a really good Canadian product and I’m pleased we don’t have to apologize and that the American market is interested in it and that to me is really compelling.”
"Motive" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV. Full episodes are also available online at CTV.ca.
