In response to how Blue Rodeo has changed over the years Greg Keelor says, "My ears are sort of f*cked. It continues to be a major change in my life. I will never be able to play electric guitar on stage." He says he now plays acoustic guitar on stage instead. He also said they’re starting a new record in the summer. Yay!!

10:25pm
Blue Rodeo has graced the press room! When asked how they would’ve responded if someone had asked if they thought they’d ever be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame back in the day, Jim Cuddy says he would’ve said: "Oh you like the band? Any chance you could buy us a drink?" He says their career has been one surprise after another.

10:17pm
Deadmau5 says he had no expectations of tonight. In response to not winning in any of the three categories he was nominated for, namely Dance Recording of the Year, he says: "It’s alright. Are they really going to let you do a five-year long killing streak in the same category?"

10:11pm
Feist says she didn’t expect to win an award tonight. "This is just exponentially more shocking than it was in 2008." She explains that so many great things were happening that year that nothing was shocking. "I’m more in shock now than I definitely was that year."

10:09pm
Feist, who was in "The Muppets movie" and appeared on Sesame Street, says Kermit is her favourite Muppet! "Kermit is the captain. That’s deep," she says with a laugh.

10:07pm
Feist is in the press room! She is so lovely. She has now won a total of 11 JUNOs and says she remembers her first win the best. And now this one. She’s speaking about "Metals" and says this was the most complete album she’s made. She adds she was listening to a lot of North African music, old blues and folk recordings, and was getting back into playing guitar after having not for a number of years. And she says her mom has all her JUNOs on her mantle in her house! Ha!

10:01pm
Dan Mangan in reference to winning the JUNO for New Artist of the Year despite being on the indie scene for years: "I meant what I said. Anything that is meaningful in life takes time to achieve. I’ve worked really hard and I have so much respect for the artists here."

9:58pm
Two-time JUNO winner Dan Mangan is in the press room. He says with all honesty he didn’t have any expectations of winning anything at all. "It’s strange. I came in to this with a very open minded view. I’d never been to the JUNOs before … I would’ve been totally fine with winning no awards but I think it’s more fun (when you win)," he says with a laugh. "I’m excited and happy."

9:56pm
Blue Rodeo are getting inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame as we speak!! Glenn Milchem told me once he had heard the band described as comfort food, the "chicken and mashed potatoes" of Canadian music. I like that. So happy for them tonight. They are more than deserving.

When asked who he’d like to collaborate with, Dallas Green says he would like to work with Neil Young (but thinks Young wouldn’t like him very much) and would love to sit in a room with Leslie Feist and just sing.

9:49pm
Dallas Green, who just won for Songwriter of the Year, has just been asked in the press room where he does most of his songwriting. He says even though he dreams of writing in a cabin in the woods with a babbling brook nearby, he says he usually writes at 2 or 3 in the morning in his basement. So cool to get insight into the creative process of such a prolific songwriter.

9:45pm
Dallas Green is in the press room! He’s talking about some special throat lozenges he got in New Zealand. A reporter, with a sore throat, asked if he could have one. Green simply says "No." Ha, awesome.

9:39pm
Blue Rodeo are singing "Lost Together." I think I might burst with happiness. I don’t think I’m alone when I say this song reminds me of so many good memories. And seriously, can Jim Cuddy get any better looking?? My co-worker Lindsay and I like to refer to him as the Canadian George Clooney.

9:35pm
Yay The Sheepdogs take home another JUNO for Single of the Year! So proud of my Saskatchewan boys! In case you’re wondering…yes, everyone in Sask. has long hair and beards. And wears bunnyhugs.

9:33pm
Seriously Shatner is killing it. Love the spoken word acknowledgements.

9:24pm
Dragonette is in the press room! They just won their first JUNO for Dance Recording of the Year for their hit song "Hello." Singer Martina Sorbara says she feels "buzzy," like she’s just had 14 Red Bulls. Apparently they were stuck in Newfoundland in a snowstorm and barely made it here tonight. They said they were sure Deadmau5 was going to win this and they were prepared to stay in their seats. Wow.

9:13pm
So happy for Dan Mangan! Another JUNO win! He had some stiff competition in the New Artist of the Year category. The fans are going crazy! Even though he’s had a few records out he responds to the win by saying: "It takes time to do anything that’s worthwhile. Persistence, optimism and gratitude." Wow. How inspiring.

8:57pm
Still waiting for an artist to come back and chat with us in the press room. The reporters are getting a little antsy. It helps that there’s free wine and Doritos.

8:45pm
Why does Feist look so shocked she won Artist of the Year?! Doesn’t she know how amazing she is? I remember seeing her play a small intimate show in her hometown of Calgary when "Let it Die" first came out. So happy for her. Hope she comes back to the press room.

8:24pm
Dallas Green takes home the first award of the night for "Songwriter of the Year." Congrats to him. The category is so full of amazing artists – Dan Mangan, Feist, Jim Cuddy and Ron Sexsmith. All deserving of a win me thinks.

8:09pm
Just got in from a very cold (but very awesome red carpet! So excited to talk to Jim Cuddy, William Shatner, Feist and Dan Mangan!) and am now backstage in the press room waiting for the action to begin. The show just started and all the media is already loving Shatner’s opening bit. He’s rockin’ out on stage to hits like "Born to Be Wild!" and Bryan Adams’ "Summer of ’69." This is awesome. Can’t wait to see what else he has in store…
