CTV.ca First: Viewers can chat live with 'Hiccups' and 'Dan For Mayor' stars as series premiere March 1
For the first time on CTV.ca, viewers can interact live with the stars of two new series as the shows premiere on CTV. Fans can get online and engage with "Corner Gas" stars Nancy Robertson and Fred Ewanuick as they launch "Hiccups" and "Dan For Mayor", back-to-back on Monday, March 1.
Bringing viewers closer to the stars than ever before, CTV.ca launches its first LIVE chat with "Hiccups" star Nancy Robertson from 8 to 8:30 p.m. ET. Then, from 8:30 to 9 p.m. ET, viewers can stay online at CTV.ca to connect with Fred Ewanuick of "Dan For Mayor" to get exclusives on his new series. Viewers watching the tape-delayed premieres in other time zones can log on to read the chats in their entirety.
Viewers can log on to CTV.ca to weigh in with thoughts and comments about the show, ask questions and get real-time answers straight from the stars themselves.
“This is a great opportunity for CTV.ca to connect audiences directly with the stars of the show and extend the broadcast experience,” said Stephan Argent, Vice-President of Digital Media, CTV Inc., “By experimenting with engagement tools like live chats, we’re providing unique opportunities for CTV viewers, and another way for us to interact with the audience.”
Set in Vancouver, "Hiccups" stars the hilarious Nancy Robertson (CORNER GAS) as Millie Upton, a successful children’s author who’s prone to flying off the handle and features Brent Butt as Stan Dirko, Millie’s less-than-qualified life-coach. Playing Dirko is the mastermind behind CTV’s hit comedy CORNER GAS, Brent Butt, who also acts as creator, writer, executive producer and director. It’s a case of the lost leading the lost, with the best of intentions and very little chance of success. "Hiccups" series regulars include Laura Soltis (THE GUARD), David Ingram (SMALLVILLE), Emily Perkins (Ginger Snaps) and Paula Rivera (FLASHPOINT).
Dan Phillips’ ("Corner Gas" star Fred Ewanuick) life has been fairly uneventful until he is faced with the unexpected career change of running for mayor of his hometown. He lives and works in the fictional city of Wessex, Ontario, has the same friends since grade school, his most prized possession is a vintage Ms. Pac-Man game, and his last serious relationship was with a girl who is now engaged to someone else. "Dan For Mayor" follows Dan’s journey of self-discovery as he, his ex-girlfriend, Claire (Mary Ashton, "Degrassi Goes Hollywood"), and best friend, Jeff (Paul Bates, Welcome to Mooseport), figure out Dan’s new-found political career, deal with the unexpected and prove that experience isn’t everything. DAN FOR MAYOR also stars Ben Ayres (VAMPIRE DIARIES); Suzanne Coy (HEARTLAND); Agam Darshi (SANCTUARY); Laurie Murdoch (FLASHPOINT); David Ferry (THIS IS WONDERLAND); and Lara Jean Chorostecki (DEGRASSI: THE NEXT GENERATION).
