The doctors of Seattle Grace may not be on Oceanic Flight 815 but the Season 8 finale is sure looking a lot like “Lost.”

During last week’s episode, many of the doctors were shown taking a flight to Boise, Idaho to help separate conjoined twins. But just before the credits started to roll, we saw Meredith lying on the ground in a forest surrounded by wreckage after the plane had crashed.

Creator Shonda Rhimes has previously said that one of the major characters will die on the season finale, airing Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on CTV, and now we know how.

But do we know who?

In a short preview released in advance of the finale, we see Cristina explaining to a frantic Meredith that Derek had been sucked out of the back of the airplane. We see Lexie lying on the ground in distress and Arizona, who appears to be unconscious. We also see McSteamy, who made it out alive, and one hand banging against the fuselage, though we have no idea who it belongs to.

Karev was also shown at the end of last week’s episode with his jacket on preparing to leave but we don’t actually see him on the plane.

Did Arizona, who told Karev he couldn’t go to Boise because he no longer represented the hospital if he took the job at Hopkins, go in his place?

Dr. Hunt (who was shown writing on a white board while the doctors were on the plane), was presumably not on the plane. Same goes for April and Jackson, who were shown drinking at Joe’s (and getting into an argument over their recent hookup).

Rumours on the Internet indicate that Ellen Pompeo (Meredith), Patrick Dempsey (Derek), Sandra Oh (Cristina), Justin Chambers (Karev), James Pickens Jr. (Richard) and Chandra Wilson (Bailey) have all signed on to do the show for another two years so we’re thinking (and hoping) all of their characters will survive.

No word on Lexie, Arizona or McSteamy’s contracts, making us think it’s going to be one of these three. But how could we possibly part with any of them?

Meanwhile back in Seattle, Teddy is presented with a tempting offer, Ben and Bailey try and figure out if they can stay together now that Ben has an offer to be a surgical resident at UCLA, and Richard is planning a special dinner for the residents.

The only question is, which one of them won’t be attending?
