Susan Mayer may still be mourning the death of her husband Mike Delfino but this desperate housewife need not worry:  the beloved handyman is scheduled to return for the show’s series finale.

TV Guide is reporting that James Denton, who has portrayed Delfino for all eight seasons, will make an appearance on the “Desperate Housewives” finale, airing Sunday, May 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CTV. We’re not sure in what capacity he will return (as a ghost or in a flashback) but any form is welcome for us here at CTV.ca, as we have been devastated ever since he was tragically gunned down on Susan’s doorstep a few episodes earlier.

As well as Delfino, Martha Huber (Christine Estabrook), the Wisteria Lane resident who discovered Mary Alice Young’s suicide and was later killed by Paul Young, will return, as will Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delaney), who left for Paris at the end of Season 6 with former stripper Robin Gallagher (Julie Benz) after discovering she was a lesbian.

Other “dead” characters scheduled to appear include Rex Van de Kamp (Steven Culp), George Williams (Roger Bart), Karl Mayer (Richard Burgi) and Carlos’ mother, “Mama” (Lupe Ontiveros), with more names to be revealed closer to the date.

Creator Marc Cherry has been tight-lipped on how the long-running series will end but has said it will remain true to the vision he had for the show for the past seven and a half years.

According to TV Line, Cherry said: "I don't know about happy endings versus tragic endings. But I want to make sure that we end the show in a very satisfying way for the fans, so the endings for the characters are going to make sense.”

He also said that the deceased Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong) will make an appearance.

It is also possible the show will jump ahead again – just like it did in Season 5 when it advanced five years. TheInsider.com is reporting that Felicity Huffman’s character Lynette was seen on set dressed up like an old lady.

Now that we’d like to see.

A new episode of “Desperate Housewives” will air Sunday, April 29 at 9/8C on CTV. Full episodes are also available online at CTV.ca, as well as quick cut recaps from Seasons 1- 5.
