Olympic fever has hit Richmond.

More than 2,000 people came together at Aberdeen Centre early this morning to watch the lavish opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Hundreds were there when the doors opened at 5 a.m. Many had been lined up starting as early as 3 a.m.

Revelers watched the opening ceremony on a 28 foot TV and were treated to a pancake breakfast.

Celebrations include an appearance by the Vancouver 2010 mascots, an Olympic fashion show and 15 past Olympians.
