A baby girl found abandoned in a plaza stairwell in Toronto this week has found a foster home and is doing well, the Children's Aid Society of Toronto said on Friday.
The agency has also named the unidentified infant Angelica-Leslie, because the chubby-cheeked eight-month-old looks "like an angel" and was found on Leslie Street, said David Rivard, the agency's executive director.
Rivard said bruises on the baby are consistent with physical abuse. Police and Children's Aid hope the girl's parents will still come forward, but the society will be going to court on Monday to seek guardianship for one month.
Police have still not been able identify the infant, who was found in a cold North York stairwell on Wednesday afternoon.
Investigators are looking for a car described as a 1997 - 2000 model green four-door Ford Escort. Surveillance footage released by police on Thursday shows the driver get out of the vehicle with the girl, dump her and then flee the scene.
Police have received calls about the suspect vehicle, but still not a single person who knows the infant has come forward.
Detectives are also concerned something could have happened to the baby's parents.
Angelica-Leslie is described as being black with a light complexion. She was wearing a red one-piece sleeper as well as a white sleeper with a hoodie on it when she was found. She was also wearing a pink snowsuit.
Police have also released an appeal on YouTube.
