TORONTO — Young people seeking a summer job will again be eligible for some assistance from the Ontario government.

Chris Bentley, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities, says $52 million will be spent on a summer jobs program this year.

The program is designed to help more than 56,000 young people find employment or start their own business.

People between the ages of 15 to 24 are eligible, while the eligibility for people with disabilities is extended up to the age of 29.

The program runs from April to September and includes a jobs service which offers a $2 per hour hiring incentive for businesses and community organizations to hire students for up to 16 weeks.

It also provides students with up to $3,000 to help them start up and run their own summer business.

Jobs are also available in provincial government ministries and agencies.
