Hackers claim to intercept call between FBI, Scotland Yard

LONDON — The FBI says that hackers have intercepted a sensitive conference call between the FBI and Scotland Yard cybercrime investigators.

The loose-knit hacking collective known as Anonymous released a roughly 15-minute-long recording of what appears to be a conference call devoted to tracking and prosecuting members of the group.

The FBI said in a statement Friday that the information "was intended for law enforcement officers only and was illegally obtained."

The bureau said it was hunting those responsible.

@Anne: You don't really get the internet, do you? Originally designed for military purposes it now exists to promote the free exchange of information. Blaming the ISPs for child porn is like blaming a hardware store because a hammer was used as part of a robbery. The Americans have just proposed a bill (H.R.1981) that would make it mandatory for ISPs to log absolutely everything that American citizens do online. This is all being done under the guise of "think of the children!" in an attempt to push the bill through. Trying to incite a moral panic to introduce a nineteen eighty four style monitoring scheme is outright stupid and you should be ashamed of yourself for falling for it.

ah ha ha ha way to state the obvious! you mean the to tell us the guys your hunting down werent suppose to hear a conference call on how you were going to do it? really? I for one find it highly amusing how these guys are obviously running circles around the authorities and making them look like fools! What exactly have these guys done that make them so dangerous! Other then making law enforcement agencies looking like fools for not properly securing there networks

I guess the only reason they are upset is because they thought they were the only ones who had the godly right to listen in on other people's privacy and now don't like it that their own privacy was breached. Don't like it do you now that the shoe is on the other foot? How do you think we feel when you guys do it to us everyday? What's good for the goose, is good for the gander!!!!

One would have expected the conversations between the FBI and Scotland Yard cybercrime investigators to be encrypted. Obviously not...who's the stupid one? You reap what you sow.

To I am Anonymous - fabulous - perhaps you already do, but might I suggest that "Anonymous" post blocks of text on every conceivable media page (Facebook, Twitter, etc) that you will seek and find those accessing child porn and publish the info. Your considerable skill at doing so will likely frighten a lot more perverts than their perception that the police "might" one day find them.

Anne - In response to your comment about child porn, Anonymous actually has taken action against it recently, please research 'Operation Darknet', wherre they shutdown many of the sites as well as published the IP addresses and other details of those who accessed the information.

I'm a little tired of these 'hackers' who think that they have the moral right to access anything and everything. Why don't they put their obvious skill to good use and weed out all the disgusting human being who are accessing child pornography? Obviously service providers could care less as they hide behind their "no censoring" mantra, so let the hackers do it - and work with the police.

I hope they find these cowardly vandals and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. I hope everyone sees the hypocrisy of a group that purports to stand for transparency, but calls itself "Anonymous" while committing criminal acts.

Who cares, they obtain illegal information on their citizen everyday. Doesn't feel so good when the shoe is on the other foot, spying on people. Don't sugar coat it for what it is. Your being watched, everyday of your life. Fear on fear, what a lovely thing.

And they thought they were the only ones who could bug a conversation? If it's in cyberspace, it's potentially there for everyone,,,,if not now, certainly in the future. Time to go back to face to face meetings under the Cone of Silence.
